Organise your next school outing

Our authentic destination is simple and seductive. Binic-Etables-sur-Mer is a resort on a human scale. The atmosphere here is that of a "seaside holiday village" in the truest sense of the word, a veritable open-air playground in the heart of an exceptional, unspoilt environment.

Here are the historical elements highlighted in the various services on offer:

History of the port of Binic:
Binic was recognised as France's leading port for deep-sea fishing in Newfoundland in 1845 and 1847, with a fleet of 37 vessels. Sailors from Binic risked their lives to go cod fishing in the cold waters of Iceland and Newfoundland. The saga of the Terre-Neuvas is honoured during the traditional "Morue en Fête" festival, held every year on Ascension Day. After some twenty years of shellfishing, the port was converted into one of the largest marinas in the département.

The 1900 Godelins seaside resort:
In 1895, Oscar and Victoria Legris, a Belle Epoque couple who had fallen in love with the coast, decided to make Etables a renowned seaside destination by developing the Godelins beach. The Versailles industrialist therefore encouraged the urbanisation of the commune by building villas, bathing cabins, hot baths and roads leading to the beach. In all, 18 villas were built.

The best part?
Gaëlle, in charge of guided walks at the Tourist Office.
A local guide for over 10 years in Etables-sur-Mer and Binic-Etables-sur-Mer, Gaëlle is interested in new ways of promoting heritage and regularly attends training courses in this area. She has set up fun tours for children and adults, as well as a range of treasure hunts and games for all ages.

Our ideas for activities

The "Once upon a time there was the Great Fishery!

Through role-playing, children discover how a Great Newfoundland Fishing campaign unfolded. This game visit can take place outdoors in the harbour, or at your school.

The guide plays the captain and each child takes on the role of a specific sailor (dorykeeper, dresser, salter, etc.), or a weather element (wind, etc.). During the various games, the children help to load the supplies onto the boat (model) before departure, sing to show the length of the voyage, carry out the various stages of fishing according to their role...

The game ends with the sale of the fish caught and then the guide makes the children smell cod liver oil.

Can you use your observation skills and knowledge to solve the riddles and reveal Armandine's great family secret? This game takes place in the Godelins seaside district and is a fun way to discover its history. Ideal for children aged 6 to 10.

Each group is given a key, which opens an outdoor box containing the game kit. It also contains another box, red this time, whose combination must be found at the end of the game. Participants scour the Godelins district for answers to riddles (observation, arithmetic, word grids, general knowledge, charades, etc.). Each riddle provides a letter to complete a mystery sentence. Once the sentence is completed, a family secret is revealed, the combination is reconstituted and the red box containing the treasure can be opened.
