Shades of green, blue and orange (if you arrive just in time for sunrise!) make for a truly picture-postcard panorama.
A must-see experience:
We love:
Going down to the beach early in the morning, looking east and waiting. Waiting patiently for the sun to rise.
First there are those flamboyant orange, red and even purple lights.
And then suddenly there is silence. The seagulls settle down, the waves seem to glide more gently.
A silence to make way for the sun. Sunrise. A hatching from the ocean like a birth. A new day begins.

"I love the sea in winter: a Sunday morning on the beach at Les Godelins
What a wonderful way to spend a weekend, heading down to the beach at Les Godelins!
At around 9am, the beach is silent, nature is all around us, the lapping of the waves, the cry of the seagulls and the sound of boat engines in the distance are an invitation to serenity.
While I'm more contemplative, with my camera around my neck, everyone is doing their morning thing.
2 women in wetsuits set off into the sea for a coastal walk.
Here, a gentleman performs his taichi movements.
Here, a runner takes advantage of the wet sand to train.
Further on, a woman sits on a rock watching the waves come and go.
It's this moment that I love, these Sundays when everyone lives in their own way, appreciating the extraordinary view before us.
Living simple moments. "
The Godelins beach developed with the growth of the Godelins district in the early 1900s. Oscal Legris, an industrialist from Versailles, built some pretty villas that were rented out in the summer.
Did you know?
In 1910, plans were made for a funicular railway linking the Godelins district to Etables and the Godelins beach. In the end, the tramway, which was to be electrically and then animal-powered, was deemed too expensive.
