The island of Bréhat is an archipelago located to the north-west of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc off the coast of Paimpol. Nicknamed the Island of Flowers, it lives up to its nickname all year round, where nature is omnipresent.
An exceptional destination, this archipelago comprises almost 90 islets that revolve around the main island.
All year round, from the pointe de l'Arcouest, take the Vedettes de l'île de Bréhat to get there.
During the summer season (April to September), the speedboats can also take you there from Binic-Etables-sur-Mer.
Embark at the port of Binic near the lighthouse and take a boat along the coast to the archipelago, a short cruise that will give you the chance to see the islands of Saint-Quay, the port of Gwin Zegal and the cliffs of Plouha along the way.
For the more curious, add a boat trip around the island to your crossing.
Still on board, cruise along the coast and listen to the expert commentary of your onboard guide.
The speedboat will take you around the island for a full 45 minutes before dropping you off at the south of the island, where you can disembark and visit the island.
Once on the island, the show goes on.
Walking will become your favourite activity, as you'll be able to explore the paths and tracks all over the island.
For something different, hire a bike directly on the island and pedal to your heart's content.
Don't miss
- The citadel, home to the famous glassworks where you'll find the glassblowers' workshops.
- The Peacock lighthouse, an emblematic building in the north of the island.
- Guerzido beach, where paddles and kayaks set the pace for beach life.
- The Birlot mill, built in stone between 1633 and 1638, has lost none of its charm.
- The chapel of Saint-Michel, a small religious building that impresses with its elevated position. It's not the climb up the steps that will take your breath away, but rather the view from the top.
On the practical side, you can take a relaxing break in the local restaurants in the summer season in the small market town of Bréhat.
For something a little more adventurous, take your picnic and sit down in a spot of greenery and just enjoy the sea view!
